I missed Kiltie.
I missed Vicki.
I missed hearing about Vicki's husband and son.
Several months later, Vicki came in with two eight week old female Scotties. Vicki had adopted the two girls from McCook Nebraska, a town in my home state and near my friend Cathy’s hometown. These two little coarse-haired, squared off, black beady-eyed goofballs came running in, and I was overcome with a wave of joy, sadness and homesickness. I took care of Maddie and Murphy McCook, my second and third Scottie patients, until I moved back to Nebraska.
I miss them still.
