When I started working at Westgate Animal Clinic near the end of 2023, I noticed Bennet would sometimes add drawings to notes and the name tags on the exam room doors. He is really, really good.
Before I knew him well enough to ask, I said “Bennet I have a blue heeler coming in today, and I need a picture of Bluey! Can you help?”
NEED was a stretch, or seemed so at the time, even to me.
Look at what that guy did! Armed only with a blue pen and a blue highlighter and my notebook where I write the names of pets coming in right before I write everything that can possibly be relevant to their visit, and honestly, quite a bit that probably is not.
The other things near it (actually there is a LOT, but in this photo…) are a cute Sirius logo from some flyer, the happy faces Lyn has put on notes and the finch birds Bennet has put on notes. I will accept any note from Lyn (and the rest of the team) but I send notes back to Bennet now if they do not have a finch on them.
Anyways, artists use what they have available.
I love this drawing so much that I taped it above what I at the time assumed was my desk not knowing this place is HOPPING and we are always on the move. I also did not know I was off to the cat free side of the building a short year later, and Dr. Petersen and Dr. Soethout would get to enjoy The Art Corner most of the time. It is taped so well I can not get it down. You are welcome guys!
Thank you Bennet! I have very much enjoyed working with you!
I hope your new coworkers always put signs up to protect you from touching hot things and sharp things - and if you are lucky enough to work in medicine again - sterile surgery sites :)
We are very excited for you and cannot wait to hear about your new adventures!
